There is something inherently subversive (and I would even say perverse) in watching two 31 year-old women reenact their most humiliating and awkward middle school moments while surrounded by a cast of genuine adolescents. The experience, as equally hilarious as it is deeply uncomfortable, shortlists "PEN15" as one of 2019's must-watch shows. Here's a series that deserves way more buzz in our Peak TV era.
I don't understand. The show is about teenage girls. Possibly the least interesting demographic on this earth. And yet, not only is it funny, but I find myself relating to it. It does help that it's crude as well.
