POSSIBLY IN MICHIGAN is a brilliant and absolutely darling short film in the underground vogue, notable for having gone decidedly viral on more than one occasion this past decade. I happen to be tickled pink over this curious afterlife. Cecelia Condit is a genius, her work a giddy play w/ myth and ritual (yum yum). One imagines her to have been inspired by the Kuchar brothers. The videography alone is hot stuff!
Yeah, horror film directed by experimental auteurs is one of my favorite things in film history. But, unlike my favorite "Nocturne" directed by Peggy Ahwesh, "Possibly in Michigan" weilds more ludicurous, kitschy charm which explode with human-fresh pleasure. It's hilarious that Consumerism commercial transforms into cannibalistic musical horror in thoroughly 80's aesthetics. Tiktokers, you have a smart serendipity.
