Whilst the craziness, playfulness and sheer energy of the film was grating at times, there is just so much ingenuity and passion here. By film's end, I couldn't help but be happy and hopeful. I loved Nagahisa's short and while I believe his playfulness is more endearing in that format, I still appreciate his wholly imaginative approach to this subject. 3.5 overall
Fucking loved We Are Little Zombies. It's a LOT of movie, throwing a bunch of things at the wall and seeing what sticks but it's high-energy chaos is extremely my jam. Kinda like if Wes Anderson did a Kawaii remake of The Lego Movie with the themes of Vox Lux. You'll be humming the tunes all the way home. "Who killed your parents?" "SocEYEty!" OBSESSED with this.
