“I was definitely influenced by the great filmmakers I have been lucky enough to work with. Raoul Ruiz in particular, we did three films. I appreciate and learned from his process. He improvises on set and he composes at the same time, but he knows what he wants. He gave me so much peace and I am satisfied because of his love and kindness. I observed him when he worked and observed his crew and drew immensely from that, the powerful atmosphere he created. He is still in my mind, I have the fondest memories.”
