“I don’t think so. It has been hugely gratifying to take some of my experiences, fictionalise them and see them represented in another medium. It’s difficult to make movies that have substance alongside entertainment value. The idea that Americans don’t care about the war is wrong. Really wrong. Until the economy tanked, the war was the number one topic of national conversation and the presidential campaign. Some films about the war, such as Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004), have made hundreds of millions of dollars.”
