Constantine fights a new otherworld foe in this eye-opening supernatural thriller based on characters from the DC Comics and Hellblazer novels. Set in a City of Angels where spirit-world bonds have broken, and all hell is breaking loose.

I can't explain it, but I absolutely adore this movie. It showed up on F/X one day, and I've watched it 17 times. Rachel Weisz is amazing, Shia doesn't annoy me, and Keanu does his thing. Ok, it does have my favorite actress Tilda, so maybe that's why. And Peter Stormare as 'The Devil' makes it almost perfect.
Not bad considering the players involved. I still cannot fathom why Hollywood even bothered since the comic is very much a british affair through and through. My dream version of this would have starred Tim Roth as Constantine and it would have been directed by Mike Leigh. THAT would have been interesting...
If you are going to make a movie about the clichés of what hell and heaven, sin and demons are like you might as well do Constantine. And, surprisingly, make it as cool and even more so than the coolest film noir and vampire movie out there. Great fun with religion turnt to dark tormented hero/anti-heroe narrative and visual creation. It's an adaption from "John Constantine, Hellblazer" comic, which I haven't read.
