Play Back is presented as a short rehearsal in a double sense. It is a satellite of the constellation of works that Portabella dedicates to the analysis of the “materiality” of aesthetic and cultural languages.

Catalan avant-gardist Pere Portabella likes to explore—and exceed!—the boundaries between media, whether it be theater, music, painting, or poetry. In this frenetic short film, Portabella collaborates with composer Carles Santos to shatter cinematic illusion in a behind-the-scenes rehearsal.
