Based on the original play by Donald Freed and Arnold M. Stone, and starring Philip Baker Hall in a tour de force solo performance, Robert Altman’s Secret Honor is a searing interrogation of the Richard Nixon mystique and an audacious depiction of unchecked paranoia.

So this is what Presidential meltdowns were like before they had Twitter accounts. It's also what Altman, a director who thrived on group dynamics, could do with one actor in one room. Philip Baker Hall stuns, and once it gets going, it's an electric word-vomit through 20th century politics. Altman is the cranky documenter the US deserves because he understood that to succeed here you have to be part bullshit artist.
Just look what can you do with a camera, an actor, a room and a Whisky... One of the most smashing and effective movies I`ve ever seen in my life. PBH`s performance is so disturbing and restless, definitely the best of his career. And I must not forget Altman`s precise directing... I`m speechless!
