James is 17 and is pretty sure he is a psychopath. Alyssa, also 17, is the cool and moody new girl at school. The pair make a connection and she persuades him to embark on a road trip in search of her real father.

I just binged this in one sitting. The characters are rich, magnetic and convincing. The comedic momentum is a bit lost on the last few episodes, but the concise directing and well-structured story make every episode a pleasure to watch. A terrific surprise, that feels like a cross between Submarine, Search Party and Bonnie and Clyde.
Thelma and Louise-esque, Bonnie and Clyde-esque, the story of these two misfits and outsiders evokes sympathy. The contrast between innocence and experience along with a violent coming of age journey subverts characterisation, narrative and plot themes of television. One of the best fictional adolescent stories in recent times.
3.7 stars. Wes Anderson kitchen sink crime caper which offers very current reflections upon adolescent development w/r to criminality responsibility and teens' ability to consent. I might have to review this one again after the second season, which currently feels unnecessary yet intriguing. I wish I'd had this around rather than the 'American Pie' films and 'Skins' as a teen. Ironically, far less of a bad influence.
"You can't just make people and then abandon them. They'll think they've done something wrong their entire life." fall for James and Alyssa's characters instantly. it turns out much better than I could expect!
We can't not love James and Alyssa's British accent and their peculiar attitudes. The antihero character and rebel way of them make us believe that we can pursue some of our dirty desires in life, in a controlled way, maybe. They also prove that love can be managed and showed by many ways. The whole serie and script are filmed without pimples.
Fila igual. Y Eso Me Perturba.
