Legendary British rock band Spinal Tap is followed by a ‘rockumentary’ filmmaker during their ill-fated American comeback tour. The resulting film is interspersed with powerful performances and it candidly follows the group as the industry threatens to fade them into obscurity.

"Such a fine line between stupid and clever." Still brilliant. Still hilarious. No matter how many times I see the broken pod scene or the amp scene I still laugh. Harry Shearer's mustache alone should've been nominated for an Oscar.
Genius goes ALL THE WAY UP to 11. Reiner's did a perfect over perfect job, right here. With this film. It's flawless, it's hilarious to the point of one's sides splitting and one will need more liquids within oneself because will loose them all due to severe crying out loudness due to severe LOLs...that funny! Awesome! Love it!
Great mock-rockumentary about the grandiloquence, stupidity and poor musical taste of the supposedly British heavy metal band Spinal Tap.
Displaying one hilarious sketch after another, while this trio of social misfits meander all over the u.s in their "american tour"
One more thing, the lyrics of most of their songs are hysterical.
Not the best mockumentary that Christopher Guest has appeared in, but it certainly deserves points for being the first. "This is Spinal Tap" proves a fitting satire, equal parts tribute and send-up, of Eighties rock excess, all the more impressive considering this kind of hair metal was still en vogue at the time. The scene in which Guest complains about the catering is one of the funniest moments in cinema history.
