Our take

In an ingenious adaptation of the existentialist novel Zama, Argentine auteur Lucrecia Martel inserts her own incisive commentary on colonialism and masculinity. Frenzied first-person narration transforms to become a cinematic fugue state in this singular and stupefying period drama.
