Nathan Rabin's "Secret Successes" From the My Year of Flops Project

In 2007, AV Club head writer Nathan Rabin began a twice-weekly blog series called My Year of Flops. He criteria was that the film be defined in the public view by its initial commercial failure, rather than a subsequent critical re-evaluation or cult following.

From his introduction to the series:

“I am not here to bury flops but to praise them. The commercial and creative evil that failed movies do lives after them while the good is oft interred with their paltry box-office receipts. I am here to celebrate the epic overreaching, messy humanity and Herculean ambition of cinematic failure at its most spectacular.
