“Something that’s maybe an ancient version of psychogeography that interested me in The Creation of Meaning and also in The Strawberry Tree is what my ancestors called the “spiritus loci,” which means “spirit of the place”. It’s a spirit that lives in a place, its soul (...) That’s a myth that always fascinated me. So in this and other films, I always try to get a glimpse of what the majestic memory of the spiritus loci can hold.”
