Early on, "Chilling Adventures" establishes a formula in which each episode Sabrina will ironically discover the Satanic Church can prove just as patriarchal and backwards as any Christian denomination. While Kiernan Shipka is a very game and charming Sabrina, I couldn't help but long for some of the unrestrained camp and lunacy of her sister show, "Riverdale." Netflix seems to have taken the bite out of this one.
Macabre, bloody, campy fun with some genuinely effective scares and stylish cinematography. If you're a fan of teen dramas or coming-of-age stories, as well as occult horror. then this is a perfectly suitable melding of the two. Sabrina falls in the vein of classic shows such as Buffy and Charmed with less ass-kicking and more confrontation of modern sociological and political movements.
If I need to review Chilling Adventures of Sabrina in terms of how they adapted the plot I think it's just too childish for me (since the target audience is a young one I think it makes sense though). However, this goes along with what I think about Riverdale. Nonetheless, I can really get into it. I love the fact that this universe is being explored and I need the comics in my life.
