Kramer vs. Kramer

Robert Benton USA, 1979

josé neves's rating of the film Kramer gegen Kramer

First, let's face what in this film is most dated: the often unbearable Hoffman's and Streep's psychologist exhibitionism. The rest is admirable: Almendros's cinematography, Benton's realistic classicism, the sound mostly direct and the way heterosexuality, still not in question as a sexuality, is brought to court while a questioning of a social matrix - especially its core component, the couple, that is, marriage.
