Depictions of separation are all too brief in the romcom genre, but not in this sparkling comedy masterpiece. Albert Brooks, the great actor-turned-cult-director (who starred in Taxi Driver) investigates the breakup as a site of great pain, sadness, and humor, realized in terrific one-liners.
