Ship of Fools

Stanley Kramer USA, 1965

Howard Fritzson's rating of the film Das Narrenschiff

Stanley Kramer made everything seem black and white. The movie is a courser, almost cartoonish version of the book. This is typical of his work. He dealt with topical subjects but he didn't go deep. He was a sensationalist. I may get into trouble here but he shared many instincts with the latter day Otto Preminger who feasted on big topics without really exploring them.
