Aside from the first three, the rest of these are listed alphabetically. It is a strange list, yes, because most films here are chosen by considering the filmmaker, but some are chosen simply for the love of the film itself. I do have a deep appreciation for most filmmakers on this list, but some I don’t care enough about, even if they’ve made a film or two that I consider great. Also, I limited myself to one film per director; I’d probably have too much Imamura and Hong on there otherwise…
