LEAN, ranked.

I wish more people knew David Lean for his wonderful intimate dramas. I love an epic as much as the next guy, but it astounds me that someone known for his grand-scale movies succeeded so greatly on a small-scale. Epic or no epic, Lean will always have a place in my heart for his mastery of editing and his understanding of romance.

I know this is silly, but one thing that has always bothered me about his great epics is that their languages are wrong. I know this is how it is with many, many films, but I just feel like I would like Lawrence of Arabia a lot more if it were in the proper languages (I’m not sure why it bothers me...
