A Listen Back: Music Discovered at TIFF 2010

Vincent Gallo’s Promises Written in Water and Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives
How these tracks interact with the films, you'll just have to wait and see.
From Vincent Gallo's Promises Written in Water:
From Apichatpong Weerasethakul's Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives:
Not playing: the piano piece used with such solemn weight in Catherine Breillat's Sleeping Beauty.  I think it's Liszt but I didn't catch what it was.  So listen (and look) out.  Pictured above: either Promises Written in Water or a photograph from the production, or something related.
Well, let’s hope Vincent Gallo actually decides to release the film (which I somehow doubt).
p.s: The image is not from Promises but from a Delfine Bafort model photo shooting… looks nice nonetheless.
Pretty sure the Breillat piece is Rachmaninoff, but I don’t know what composition.
Penguin Villa is my new favorite band. Been playing them non-stop for weeks.
What’s interesting about that shot from the “model photo shooting” (thanks Grey!) is how much it resembles the mise-en-scene of the scene in which the Aphex Twin track plays. Brian: it could well be Rock. Let me know if you are able to track it down.
