Our take
A sleepy town is a breeding ground for dark secrets and make-believe in this lovingly observed docufiction. Set in a part of Italy made familiar by filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini, Alessandro Comodin’s film makes Fruili strange again, a place where plant life partners death in a dreamlike pas de deux.
