Synopsis

An undocumented immigrant disillusioned by their future in the US, decides to return to an estranged homeland. Tracing a family curse from post-9/11, US occupation of the Philippines, and Spanish spiritual conquest, this diary explores migration causes, ultimately deviating from the expected path.

Our take

What makes a home? Probing slippery notions of belonging, Miko Revereza’s free-flowing documentary resists the tyranny of borders through form. Placing the director’s travels in dialogue with home videos and archival reels, this transfixing brew of images echoes the heartache of statelessness.
