On May 13, 1944, the Gestapo carried out a “Chinese action” in which 130 Chinese men were arrested, mistreated and imprisoned for months in the “Langer Morgen” work education camp in the port of Hamburg. That was the end of the “Chinese Quarter” in St. Pauli.
