Our take

Ablaze with the unwieldy radical fervor of Revolutionary France, Andrzej Wajda’s Danton was widely understood to parallel unionist movements in 1980s Poland on its release. Whichever way you watch it today, the film is an absorbing period piece rife with the actorly, rousing drama of oration.
