Kenneth works as a tour guide dressing up as the town’s most notable historical figure, Sir Douglas Weatherford, who Kenneth proudly claims as his ancestor. When the village becomes the base of a big-budget fantasy TV show, his obsession with the show’s lead actor fuels a tragic downward spiral.
Charmingly mottled with the eccentricity and cantankerous humor so beloved of British satire, this touching film sets local heritage against modern entertainment. As a man not made for these times, Scottish acting legend Peter Mullan marches into that culture clash with an outstanding performance.
