Barbara, a young girl, lives with her father. One night, she dreams that a fireman waits outside her window. After travelling the world, Barbara, now a young woman, returns to her childhood dreams. She calls the fire department to her home and locks herself in her room with one of the men.

The awakening of a young woman’s peculiar sexual fantasies, set in her family’s grandiose bourgeois home, is the source for this enigmatic work, made in reaction to a certain “post-68” lethargy. Poetic and playful in equal measure, Flammes is a rare film that escapes classification.
