Synopsis

The life story of Ludwig Wittgenstein, one of the greatest philosophers of his time, is revealed in a series of sketches. A child prodigy who became a professor at Cambridge, Wittgenstein spent his life distancing himself from his privileged upbringing while coming to terms with his homosexuality.

Our take

When Derek Jarman was dared to film a script about a queer philosopher without showing a single buttock, he refrained from ogling sumptuous bottoms but maintained a mischievous outlook. After Wittgenstein’s own aphorisms, cleverness frolics with silliness in this delightfully offbeat biopic.
