Considering that theater is not my cup of tea, I must say that I’ve found in this particular version an exquisite appeal that comes mostly from the performances of the cast and the technical implementation.
Desire, by its very nature, transcends rationalism. Occasionally creative but rarely humorous interpretation of one of Shakespeare's weaker offerings that, unfortunately, cannot sustain its spectacle for long and lapses easily into by-the-books staging. The mechanicals are easily the standout, but the Athenian lovers just kill the momentum, for the most part. "Reason and love keep little company together nowadays!"
