Kapuscinski (43) is a brilliant veteran journalist, an idealist and a friend of lost causes and revolutions. At the Polish Press Agency, he convinces his boss to send him to Angola where a bloody civil war has broken out on the eve of the country’s independence.

I’m a great fan of Kapuscinski’s work. I’ve read most of his books, the best ones more than once. That’s one reason perhaps why I detested this one-dimensional melodramatic heroisation which turns him into a caricature American action hero risking his life while sharing wisdoms of life in a dramatic voiceover. I’m sure there’s an audience for this, but it’s not me. Great animation, but it saves nothing.
So sorry, I can't avoid being subjective here. Using Kapuściński's book already makes it an interesting movie. Some scenes really great (animated shootout much more realistic than most of shootouts I've seen on a screen). I'm not sure if I liked documentary parts though - feels like a way to make the movie long enough. Only life writes screenplays like this
