¿Qué dicen los demás?

  • Addy K.'s rating of the film Body of Lies

Released in 2008, but probably more relevant in the year of our Lord 2015. BODY OF LIES skillfully tackles CIA and other spy agencies in Middle East, yet is most effective in its suggestion that information is ultimate power. Leo wears a thick beard, but he's still Leo—always smirking! And between Monahan's cutting dialog and Ridley's stylish direction, there's a love story and plea for cultural understanding. Aww...

  • J. O.'s rating of the film Body of Lies

By no means a defining moment in the careers of Scott, DiCaprio, or Crowe - but certainly an entertaining and thrilling (not to forget entirely fictional) take on the situation in the Middle East. The story is remarkably one-dimensional for a Ridley Scott film, but regardless, what would have been a run of the mill America-finding-terrorists action flick turned out to be a fairly stylish thriller.

  • Ethan's rating of the film Body of Lies

This is a nice little espionage thriller that features some really great moments between Leonard DiCaprio and Russell Crowe trading blows.

  • Zachary T.'s rating of the film Body of Lies

The opening monologue had me really exicted -- it truly showcases William Monahan's brilliance as a writer. Too bad the rest of the film was mostly unspectacular. I also feel like Crowe gave the better performance but was overshadowed by hype for the "bigger" actor. He convinced me more than Denzel in American Gangster, too.

  • Christopher R. Smith's rating of the film Body of Lies

A slick, entertaining espionage thriller from director Ridley Scott. The story is nothing particularly fresh or original - but Scott, ever the visual stylist, creates some arresting images with excellent cinematography by Alexander Witt, as well as strong performances by Leonardo DiCaprio and (particularly) Russell Crowe. It's a well-crafted production, but far from Scott's best - but still a solid effort.

  • Ben Wheeler's rating of the film Body of Lies

Ridley Scott has a particular talent for making "realism" stylized. His movies are drenched with texture: smoke, dust, rain, metal, glass, steam, fire. Body of Lies is as strong a film as he's ever made. It twists & turns, revealing & concealing secrets &, well, lies. I admire Scott's attention to environment and commitment to thrill the audience. His films are as manly as they are romantic. Timeless storytelling.

  • paul_quixote's rating of the film Body of Lies

What's the message here? FIRST: Dealing with The Muslim Scourge is best left to Western friendly, Middle Eastern torturers. SECOND: scumbag CIA spooks are Good Dudes as long as they find themself a nice Arab Pixie Dream Girl. THIRD: Russell Crowe is an amoral operator who doesn't care about killing people but we're reminded every scene the reason is is he's protecting America. Another H E A P of well-crafted J U N K.

  • FISCHER's rating of the film Body of Lies
