In the film, the camera records images of a policeman’s day. Arrests, emergency calls, book ‘em dan-o’s, &c. The way in which the policemen are portrayed impresses conflicting feelings of fear, disgust, and respect.

Particles in space: eyes, faces, hands, gestures, movements, focus / blur, objects, colors. More than a documentary about the procedures of an activity, this film is an assumption of a cinematic act, of its extraordinary occurrence.
A magnificent work about an instituion. The police don’t have faces, only objects of law and order (guns, uniforms, cars, badges) on the contrary, the people who get arrested have faces (like the homeless) or the black community (revealing already that the biggest problem in the american society, law is for lower classes)
Taking place in Pittsburgh's Hill District, the film's evocation of white policing in a black neighborhood should be required viewing. It's a film of inter/action: the fierce laughter between the lines, heavy bellies over heavy belts. I remember the film as concluding on water, the out-of-doors the afterlife to red-and-blue water drops on speeding windows.
