Sure, the first season is more focused and streamlined, which is not surprising as it has the Coen film to lean on, but the punch the second, original season packs is still ludicrous. Some people consider this better than the first one, and I can see why. I myself can't really decide. The first has Billy Bob and mad focus, whereas this one has a whole array of interesting characters and plotlines.
While there's still plenty to like, season two suffers from a crisis of identity; the first season was perfectly relevant to the film without being dependent on it, but here, the show-runners have discarded its influence almost entirely. Starts strong, but was losing me by the end.
