Valoraciones & Críticas

  1. Santiago Delgado's rating of the film He nacido, pero...

If this film is labeled as a comedy, I think it has internal Japanese jokes. Besides that, the screenplay is very remarkable! It represents very well human and family dilemas. Also the judgement the children do because of the lack of considering the whole context.

  2. Luisa_G's rating of the film He nacido, pero...

La purezza e la delicatezza dei film di Ozu sono sempre disarmanti.

  3. Kelvin Thompson's rating of the film He nacido, pero...

3-4. A reconciliation between children inside the complex social reality they inhabit. It may be an omen that the new generation has hope to live more authentically than the previous one. Even still, the nature of a system that threatens individual dignity doesn't necessarily change. The unhappinesses faced by the characters because of it isn't likely to change, either. Nice physical realism, overall, too.

  4. film_frame's rating of the film He nacido, pero...

For some strange reason, I seem to cling to films the explore loss of innocence during childhood...huh maybe one day I'll figure out why I'm so drawn towards it, but until then, this perfectly drawn out gem of a film will have to suffice. But no, seriously watch this film!

  6. Jdsarmientoburgos's rating of the film He nacido, pero...

The first notable Ozu which he later remade as a slightly more charming colorized talkie. Heartwarming but I do prefer later Ozu.

  13. Nathan Hopkins's rating of the film He nacido, pero...

The first of Ozu's film's I've watched, I Was Born But... has some truly universal, and at times, sad messages about the nature of life under the authoritative pressures to submission in modern society. Its commentary seems cleverly layered within the narrative of film as the art of the industrial, suburban society it portrays. And of course, it's a humorous silent comedy as well. All in all, touching and true.

  14. HSBilly's rating of the film He nacido, pero...

the kids in ozu always a charmer as the kids in kiarostami, but how many times that train come and go in a whole movie? i lost my count.

  15. Stian Gledje Bekkvik's rating of the film He nacido, pero...

4.5 How to apply the discipline of Charlie Chaplin to kids in their pre-teens?

  16. Hugo Poderoso's rating of the film He nacido, pero...

It isn't strange that a film that depicts discipline and subordination as a constant in life struggles to be so playful with images, gestures and objects.

  17. ikkini's rating of the film He nacido, pero...

Chef d'oeuvre du maître Ozu, à la fois espiègle et sombre, cette fable sociale est d'une puissance qui traverse les générations.

  18. Aprilia Gunawan's rating of the film He nacido, pero...

Mon préféré de Ozu, jusqu'à ce moment

  19. Muraki's rating of the film He nacido, pero...

  20. CarlosEsquives's rating of the film He nacido, pero...

  21. gaffordKINO's rating of the film He nacido, pero...

I love the way Ozu slowly reveals the essence of this film, which relates to the generational gap present in the majority of Ozu's work. The film is cyclical with the same path taken each day to school. Each time revealing something new, like a new behavior or new outlook on life. The train gates always come down, and the train always rumbles by, but the boys and their father change, age, and grow.

  22. Nadin's rating of the film He nacido, pero...

I had no idea Ozu made comedies. It was a lovely surprise to see this gem. My first Ozu film, in fact, and I loved it. Lots more to see of the great master!

  23. Richie Hayes's rating of the film He nacido, pero...

As beautiful and touching as any movie.

  24. El Biffo's rating of the film He nacido, pero...

Sweet, charming silent film about boyhood by Ozu. There is a great scene of them watching home movies. I love that. Since I gave Linklater's film 4 stars, I gotta give this 4.5 stars.
