I Wish Dirigida por Hirokazu Kore-eda

Reseñas críticas

Koreeda has learnt from [Edward] Yang that no detail is unimportant, and I Wish finesses his skill in giving seemingly trivial, everyday moments and images a lasting resonance. The film has the quality of a realist fable, underpinned by strong elements of social commentary. The adult stars, most returning from previous Koreeda movies, contribute expert character sketches which intensify the sociological dimension. But it’s the insight into childhood experience which shines.

…These images are brought together at the end of the film in an impressionistic montage that is at once an encapsulation of the film that precedes it and Koreeda’s marvellous career as a whole

  • João Eça's rating of the film I Wish

Unbalanced, the second part is far more effective than the first, though the ending should be much sooner. A little bit too long, some times sentimental and with a really shitty soundtrack, it does have a brilliant cast that makes the movie worthwile. Some moments are very effective (visually, I mean) but being this my first Kore-eda, I would say he is a second-rate Ozu follower.

  • Andy Cucumber's rating of the film I Wish

I admire Kore-Eda for making such a movie with a cast of children. I admire him even more for making me want to strangle him every time he uses a song out of the 1001 Cheesy Guitar Tunes for Cheap Sentiment Songbook on his soundtrack, which is about 46 times...

  • OFF_FRAME's rating of the film I Wish

A friendly delve into the complications of life as a child in modern day Japan. A time of hopes and dreams and a place where wishes just might come true. The children are great and all appear to be far wiser than any of the adults in this. It's shmaltz free and captures the energy and adventure of youth in arresting detail. 3 stars

  • Matthew_Lucas's rating of the film I Wish

Hirokazu Kore-eda continues to stake his claim as the modern day answer to Yasujiro Ozu with this altogether wonderful film about two young brothers, separated by their parents' divorce, who set out to create a miracle and reunite their family. Hirokazu has a knack for taking the mundane details of life and turning them into something extraordinary, and this beautifully sensitive portrait of childhood is no different

  • albertofarina's rating of the film I Wish

Immaginate uno "Stand by me" neorealista.

  • Jugu Abraham's rating of the film I Wish

Amazingly disarming children's film for adults as well. The variety of subjects, the choice of his actors, his editing and his original scripts, make Kore-eda one of the most fascinating directors alive and making films in quick succession. Both he and Naomi Kawase are two Japanese directors consistently focusing on family relationships irrespective of the genre and type of film.

  • Joel Rodker's rating of the film I Wish

I loved this film. I didn't know what to expect and I was slowly drawn in by the simple cinematography and the endearing characters. I was reminded a bit of Stand By Me with the young kids on a journey although I wish doesn't have such dark overtones. I enjoyed watching the important details of Japanese life and getting to know the personalities of the children. What a smile that kid has! left wanting to know more.

  • Axel's rating of the film I Wish
