Not a great work of cinema, MACISTE is still an entertaining and robust film about a virtuous "strong man," Maciste, who is lured to the underworld and is in danger of spending eternity there. The visuals are engaging, though everything feels like a 1903 Georges Méliès film on a bigger budget. It doesn't matter, though. The film has vim and is charming in its shortcomings.
