The geometric precision in the interplay between the compositions and editing would please Eisenstein, and the overall effect of its perfection is so gleeful that I practically barked and clapped at the screen like a hungry seal.

In Hereditary, Ari Aster not only handed Toni Collette the role of a lifetime but also a rare opportunity to plumb emotional depths that American horror films—and American films in general—seldom make time to examine.

Watching Cruise relentlessly pursue and destroy Henry Cavill’s double-crossing CIA hunk, whose dialogue seemed dubbed, was really satisfying. If anyone has earned the right to victory over a British superhero actor twenty years his junior with a porn mustache, it’s the movie star who has managed to avoid the trite universes of DC and Marvel, even if it took being in that mummy film to do it.

¿Qué dicen los demás?

  • Duncan Gray's rating of the film Misión Imposible: Fallout

Since the human drama lost me with the opening dream sequence, time to wait for stunts. Initially, the story is most notable as an exercise in fitting as many backstabs into a scene as possible, and it's oddly fascinating watching Tom Cruise's face as he takes hack scenes so seriously. It coheres for a strong second half, but the fact that it's at 97% on RottenTomatoes means we need a better culture of dissent.

  • Ghostman's rating of the film Misión Imposible: Fallout

A fun time at the movies yet when it attempts to graft a bigger picture onto itself, it falls flat on its face. There's also the dubious decision to bring back Hunt's old love interest, which muddles the back half of the film. Yet what makes this watchable, and make it worth seeing, despite such thematic faceplants are the film's action sequences & Cruise's balletic performance, which seems to defy physics & gravity.

  • msmichel's rating of the film Misión Imposible: Fallout

The sixth entry in the franchise is simply one of the best yet with strong scripting, excellent casting and often astonishing action set pieces and stunts. Cleverly tying in elements from the previous films Cruise and company impress with this fully realized entry. Ferguson, Cavill and the always reliable Cruise impress here but its the film kinetic pace that puts it over the top.

  • Zachary T.'s rating of the film Misión Imposible: Fallout

Astonishing, adrenaline-hammering action movie bliss. Achieves a perfect balance of set-pieces and exposition that eluded many of its predecessors. Never loses momentum, earns its length, ties you up in double-crosses and clever twists while assuredly resolving loose subplots on the fly, and, best of all, reminds us why Tom, the last earnestly go-for-broke chaotic-good 90's action hero, is so eminently lovable.

  • Palmat's rating of the film Misión Imposible: Fallout

A jawdropping piece of action cinema that never lets up or lets you down. Cruise is intense as ever but it´s McQuarrie that really brings the A-game with a script that slyly weaves together bits and pieces from the whole franchise and elevates the whole thing beyond what should be possible. From the inspired music by Balfe to the twisty script to the maniacal stunts this is a masterclass in action cinema!

  • Huey McEvoy's rating of the film Misión Imposible: Fallout

The fact that it's taken 4 excellent films in a row to give this franchise its due place within the action thriller canon is a testament to Cruise's singular tenacity. Its action cinema lineage is crystal clear, all the way back to that train arriving at that station, that guy hanging off a clock, that cop driving through San Francisco, that women shooting aliens, and that archaeologist running away from a rock.

  • Matthew Martens's rating of the film Misión Imposible: Fallout

Why does Dolby Cinema exist? To loosen bowels (and wallets); to boggle the senses of the jaded, over-concessioned, and very comfortably seated; and to give movies like this room to breathe and explode all the oxygen from everywhere. (Bring earplugs and/or arrive twenty minutes "late" to avoid being assaulted by ads and trailers, of course.) My snob's conscience won't let me give it more than three stars. But wow.

  • josé neves's rating of the film Misión Imposible: Fallout

Digital, 2D. In his previous film McQuarrie achieved an intelligent articulation between the will to demonstrate and the ability to construct; here, with the exception of the excellent scenes filmed in Paris - spaces, times, concomitances, parallelisms, sounds, geometry / geography of the eye - he accumulates more and more until the imponderability, reaching the waste of a weak mélo and a plastic surgery.
