A beautiful film. When it got to the scene where two shackled prisoners of war dance together to Louis Armstrong's "Go Down Moses" I was completely hooked. It's far more subtle than war/action movies usually are, indeed almost Renoirian, but it illuminates a stoic sense of fate without wallowing or cynicism.
