Reseñas críticas

The story’s fast pacing keeps things interesting as the film devolves into a series of near misses before the dual storylines finally merge in the final act. THE DEPARTED is Scorsese’s modern take on 1950’s crime film aesthetics and has aged surprisingly well, especially in comparison to some of its contemporary Best Picture brethren.

Not just in its mode of production but in its very dramatic conception, Major Dundee is a sprawling film. Despite the fact that its title singles out one figure, the film is more epic and episodic than that, giving us a range of interesting characters and loading on to them a series of weighty issues: racism and prejudice, love versus infidelity, the crisis of masculinity, honour and class (and classiness), personal initiative versus institutional rules and regulations, and so on.

  • Nicholas Gregory's rating of the film Infiltrados

Basically a main-scene-for-scene redo, yet with a humorous, charismatic tonal change and 50-added minutes of Goodfellas-like eccentric wisecracks plus a romantic subplot. It certainly is entertaining and bears Scorsese-isms, but the more compact 101 minute, straight-faced original is more nail-biting, darker, and riveting from nearly the start. The Departed takes 85 minutes for the suspense to begin and is too loose.

  • Graveyard Poet's rating of the film Infiltrados

Extremely overblown and overrated. Martin Scorsese should not have won Best Director for this mess of a movie. He should have won Best Director for Mean Streets and Taxi Driver. He should win Best Director for The Irishman.

  • dionysus67's rating of the film Infiltrados

Scorsese's unabated craftmanship in entering the criminal underworld reveals here good moments of visual flair and nods to earlier gangster films. It is watchable and engaging but hardly believable not only because the grotesque Nicholson makes a travesty of the gang boss persona but also because the father-figure castration issues take the form of despicable gun fetishism. Too close to the profane world it depicts.

  • Huey McEvoy's rating of the film Infiltrados

Stories this tightly plotted can, should and will be retold with many different flavours. Scorsese's take adds little to the original apart from a hefty slice of quality Jack and that fantastic Bwoston burr.

  • Harry Rossi's rating of the film Infiltrados

I have to say I was extremely disappointed with this film after hearing so much about it. The only performance or even character for that matter that I liked at all was DeCaprio. The technical aspects of the film were superb as all of Scorsese's films are but there was no real style to it. It almost felt robotic. Sure there were a few good scenes but overall it felt dry and in desperate need of being shortened.

  • Palmat's rating of the film Infiltrados

A dull and uninteresting movie. Sure there is a stellar cast but the whole lot chew the scenery to the point of ridicule. Only Leo comes off as a solid actor actually trying to portray a believable character. I feel sorry for Scorsese that it was for this movie he got the Oscar nod since it is messy, poorly paced and completely below the level he usually works on.

  • Mark Garrett's rating of the film Infiltrados

No, not just story, but the essence of story. The accents, the movements, the dicks in movie theaters, blood spattered sidewalks, backward hats, and the shining copper of the state house looming over it all.

  • mpho3's rating of the film Infiltrados

Rated Infernal Affairs the same, although I prefer it to Scorsese's film. IA is a much leaner affair, w/ none of the unnecessary bloat of the Wahlberg and Nicholson characters. Lau's character in IA is much less two-dimensional than his Matt Damon counterpart in TD, but DiCaprio's character is better fleshed out than Tony Leung's. I did like TD's twist of having both men involved with the same woman, but IA is sleek.
