...For my money the greatest football movie ever made... I have watched The Longest Yard more times than I ought to say, and the first time that Crewe connects downfield, I never fail to let loose with a whoop of pleasure... It is such endorphin-dump moments as this that make it quite impossible to put aside this particular childish thing, this Theater of Action, as morally compromised and strewn with human wreckage as the movies themselves.
