Dünyanın her yerinde aynı hikaye..
After a repeat viewing, this is as wonderful as ever. Albeit the reduction of all proud Englishmen as nationalist aggressive thugs with family issues is a bit of a forced leftist perspective, but that's getting picky. The film is wonderfully shot, skillfully directed, with great newcomer performances and a great soundtrack. A beautiful little blue-collar film, the likes of which aren't made much in the UK any more.
A towering performance from Stephen Graham can't elevate this simple-minded "racism is bad" melodrama, populated as it is by two-dimensional stereotypes. Like the equally worthless American History X, it depicts its racist thugs with such charisma & energy that the film probably inspires bigots, rather than challenging them. The final image - throwing the Union Jack into the sea - is so literal it's almost hilarious.
