It veered too close to the '24' / 'Homeland' formula. Brown people are scary bullshit. There are several moments, particularly in the final where they just start shooting brown people who look suspicious. That guy in the elevator wasn't doing anything. Blam! Blam! Is he a terrorist? Whew!
Watched the pilot on a whim, and just kept going. Carlton Cuse is a compelling writer and he crafted a nifty, intelligent, globalized vision for this version of Jack Ryan. I also enjoyed that we spend maybe only 50% of the time with the protagonist. He's still an 'action hero,' but that choice really highlights the importance of all the moving parts. Wendell Pierce just goes for it in every scene. Fun overacting.
