this actually is a really good movie?? the animation is great and there are a lot of really solid jokes??? "you really ARE a bad guy" actually made me tear up a little??????? it's.....why is this good?????????
An outsider searching for acceptance story filtered through video game lore. For 3D animated features, this one is the most enjoyment I had since UP! Sure, some of the plot devices implemented are contrived in the context of the movie but I didn't really care by the end of it. I loved the characters and aesthetic too much to be upset at the storytelling.
An excellent children's film. What really made this film so enjoyable were the absolutely wonderful characters. Ralph and Vanellope's relationship was really great, and at times moved me. The comedy was all there, but this movie also had a lot of heart. If I had kids, I'd definitely show them this film. Really enjoyable and well made and the video game references were lovely. Highly recommended for a good time.
A classic arcade game villain gets tired of being a bad guy, and sets out to other games to try and be a hero, inadvertently setting off a chain reaction that threatens to destroy all of the games in the arcade. Exceedingly clever (with lots of winking references to classic video games), WRECK-IT RALPH is a charming animated adventure filled with terrific visuals and fun vocal performances.
On par with almost anything pixar has done and probably the most energetic kids film since The Incredibles. Equally heartfelt and kinetic and the amount of subplots the film incorporates is genuinely impressive. Its also really noteworthy how some very adult comedians who provide the voices nail down their characters to where you are never taken out of the film. One of this year's biggest surprises.
Harmless, enjoyable and faithful to video game culture but ultimately just re-telling the same story Disney always always tells: the triumph of the individual / loser becomes a winner..the ugly duckling etc. 2.5 stars
