Akira Kurosawa passed away before he was able to film his screenplay for After the Rain, which was directed by his assistant Takashi Koizumi. Set in the early 18th century, this gentle tale portrays with lighthearted compassion a samurai whose kindness bring him both respect and ill-fortune.
