During the time of inquisition, Count Orloff gets killed on the orders of the Holy Church. Monks drive a stake through his chest and bury him at the Pantheon of the damned. Madame Kostoff, who has changed into a black panther, observes the scene, and conjures the corpse at the cemetery.
