Based on a suggestion by late filmmaker Kryzstof Kieslowski and directed by Pawel Lozinski, the film is comprised of interviews with a wide range of moviegoers asked by unseen interviewers to give their thoughts about Polish cinema.
This film is not currently playing on MUBI but 30 other great films are. See what's now showing
To my surprise, almost completely useless. The director cuts various "ordinary filmgoers" (from grannies who remember the '30s to the modern kids) talking about their film-going. These reminiscences are cut with bits of films, none of which are identified. Unless one has seen KANAL and EROICA there's no way to know what's what. If one has any desire to know about the history of Polish cinema, best steer clear.
Two Wajdas, two Kieslowskis, a Zanussi, a Polanski, a Munk, a Leszczynski, a Piwowski -- but no Zulawski? No Kawalerowicz? No Skolimowski? No Has? No Borowczyk? No Kedzierzawska? No Krolikiewicz? Not even a Lenica or a Starewicz or a Konwicki?
