The camera work is stunning, but the story line has no substance.
The film is comforting in a certain way, but also too introspective and often inexpressive, moving at a snail-pace and being incapable of drawing any special vibrancy of the characters and situations.
This is so confusing.
How can the aesthetics be so on fleek, yet the narrative diametrically opposed.
3+, nice and surprising
Bent Hamer is a fine ethnographer and a master storyteller. This is the kind a comedy that an Hollywood director - using the same source material - would have failed miserably. 1001 Grams is Hamer's best movie since Kitchen Stories.
Light but poignantly charming. There's a poetic symmetry to some bookended scenes, revealing some order even within the disorder of our lives.
