Our take

This two-reel Chaplin charmer was the icon’s sixth film for Mutual Film Corporation. Featuring a celebrated scene of miraculous slapstick in a pawn shop, The Pawn Shop also marked Henry Bergman’s first appearance in a Chaplin film, a collaboration that would continue until his death in 1946.
