Our take

René Clair (Le Million) is one of cinema’s great fantasists, a craftsmen of impossibly light capers, fables, and flings whose career took him from France to Hollywood and back. The Italian Straw Hat was his breakthrough, and remains one of the wittiest, most elegant silent comedies.
