Tribute to the eternal beauty of Danielle DARRIEUX in Countess Staviska, flamboyant, intriguing & ruined woman of the world, becoming a dreadful Mata Hari of WW2. --- James MASON is just brilliant !
2.5 stars. This well cast movie with a great story would seem to be fool-proof. However, Mankiewicz is the wrong man for the job. He has no visual style and his treatment lacks irony and tension and, surprisingly, wit.
