Our take

Ravishingly photographed by Philippe Rousselot, this family drama about faith and fly fishing is the third film from actor-director Robert Redford. Set in early-20th-century Montana, and featuring a pre-megastardom Brad Pitt, A River Runs Through It is an epic, literary ode to love and brotherhood.
